And of his wife Ann Brenan alias Brown who departed this life the 4th of Decmbr 1807 Aged 63 Years and of their two Sons John Brenan aged 3 Years, and Laurence Brenan Aged 13 Years. And also in memory of .....? for Philip Brenan late of Bagenalstown who departed this life the 26th of March 1818 Aged ...? Years, also Philip Brennan son of the last ........?

Sacred to the memory of Mr Hugh Coogan late of Newtown who depd this life 12th Feby 1782 aged 66 years Also Mr Pat Coogan his son who depd this life 7th Nov 1817 aged 33 Years. Note: Patrick Coogan was 53- not 33--at the time of his death (records confirm he was middle-aged at time of death).
Underground passage at Dunleckney cemetery. Note: I do not have a published source for this information. Some neighborhood youngsters gave us a tour of the cemetery when we visited, and they pointed out the southern passage and told us that, according to local legend, it went originally to Ballymoon Castle. The passageway was narrowed by growth, but it looked deep enough for the unwary to slip a leg at least into it. I did not explore it, so I don't know whether it is stone lined or clear at all below ground level. We were busy all day clearing around old gravestones enough to read the inscriptions. Mary
