According to information displayed in Dalkey Heritage Centre this church was in constant use until it fell into disrepair. It was reported to be in ruins in 1615. The oldest headstone in the graveyard is dated 1738. However, it is believed that St. Begnet's was used as a burial ground from the 13th century until the1930s. Access is through the Heritage Centre which is currently (as of 2012) open daily with the exception of Tuesdays. Photo No.2 View of part of the graveyard with Archbold's Castle in the background.
