I have copied some civil birth records from microfilm, in pursuit of my own research. Only a few of the names are my own relatives, but perhaps these extracts may help someone. These are from mountainous west Kerry, in two registration districts, the westernmost Darrynane, the easterly one Sneem, covering most of Kilcrohane parish, perhaps parts of others as well. The films cover quarters of the year, as listed in FHL indexes, which refer to the dates of the registration of the birth - which MAY be months after the actual birth, therefore birth dates on the same page in the registers are not always in chronological order, and might contain errors due to late reporting memory lapses. I found this out in noting that the birth date given for my grandmother-Feb. 16, 1878-(later in this listing) was a week AFTER the baptismal date given in church records as Feb. 9. Family sources say she claimed Feb. 2 as her birthday- perhaps the week before was recorded as the week after -but who knows? Just a caution.
