These are the households with the specific surname Sughrue that appear in the 1834 household census for Prior Catholic Parish, which contains Prior and Killemlagh civil parishes, notes contributor Russ McRory.
He explains that the local parish priest took a census of all the households in Prior RC parish in 1834. The census recorded the name of the head of each household and the number or males and females in each household. The townlands are spelled as written in the original census and not as standardized in the Griffith's Valuation. This transcript is taken from an article by Dr. Pádraig de Brún in the Journal of the Kerry Archeological and Historical Society. In the article, Dr. de Brun described the 1834 census as follows: "The census here edited...is one of a small number of such surveys made at the instigation of Daniel O'Connell and others in 1834-5 which have survived. It was carried out by the parish clerk, Paul Murphy (about whom nothing seems to be known), under the direction of the parish priest, Rev. Jeremiah O'Sullivan."
For anyone searching Prior RC parish, this census and Dr. de Brun's article is an invaluable resource. The Kerry County Library will copy it for you for 3 pounds.
A general note. Catholic Church sources (i.e. the parish registers and this 1834 Census) consistently spell the name as "Sughrue". The government apparently standardized the spelling as "Sugrue" since that's the only way it appears in Griffiths.
