Griffith's Primary Valuation of Co. Longford took place in 1854. In the books the tax collectors showed changes as people came and went by scratching through the names and adding new names above the previous occupier or landholder.

As the books filled up - new books were begun.  Early means the book is prob. an early one (1861+). Late means it was from the last book (early 1900's). It was not possible to give exact dates. The actual records are color coded which is not visible on microfilm.

County Longford contained 3 Unions: Ballymahon, Granard & Longford . The townlands included here are all from Ballymahon Union.

 

*The order of the names is last name first to make scanning a page easier. Also, the later occupants are listed after the name rather than over the top as the valuation shows it. Because of this when you see a ditto on a following entry for an Immediate Lessor it may actually refer to the person above him.
