KILLEANY, a parish, in the
barony of Stradbally, Queen's county, and province of Leinster, 3 miles
(N.) from Stradbally, on the road from that place to Portalington;
containing 121 inhabitants. Petty sessions for the district are
held here irregularly. The living is a rectory, in the diocese of
Leighlin, and in the patronage of the Bishop: the tithes amount to
£50. In the R.C. divisions it forms part of the union or district
of Stradbally. There are some remains of the ancient castle. |
