Since I started the Family History project I have been looking for evidence of BRENNAN's living in the area around Ballickmoyler and with the help of Peter Hovenden-Jones psh_j@yahoo.co.uk who was able to provide me with documentry evidence I am able to say that my ancesters were in the village in the 1700s A William BRENNAN was in the village of Ballickmoyler in Queen's County (Co. Laois) c.1761. He is listed in two of the following documents which were found in the estate records of the Hovenden Family of Queen's County - PRONI D950 sourced by Mr Peter Hovenden-Jones c.2004. On two separate occasions a William Brennan of Ballickmoyler was a Witness to a Deed and a Lease of land by Richard Hovenden of Ballylehane in Queen's County (Co. Laois) on 18 April 1761 and on the 18th May 1761. This proves that there was a Brennan family in Ballickmoyler, in Queen's County (Co. Laois) in the 1700's. The Hovenden's were large landowners in Queen's County during this period. The documents where the name William Brennan occurs are as follows: |
