Michael Nowlan

The information of
Michael Nowlan, of Rahenndarrah, farmer in the parish of Kiltennal,
Barony of Idrone East, and in the County of Carlow, who being duly
examined and sworn saith, that on Sunday the 1st day of February 1835,
he went to the chapel of Rahanna, and on entering the chapel-yard, a
crown collected about him and commenced jostling him from one to
another, and Patrick Coleman, of Knocksquire, dragged him out of the
yard. Informant was then struck by three others (namely, William Bryan,
Edward Leech, and Michael Brennan,) and knocked down. Informant futher
swears that when he was struck, he was told that it was because his
father voted for Messrs. Bruen and Kavanagh at the late Election.

wit}
The information of
PATRICK HOLDEN, of Borris, labourer in said bench of magistrates
presiding at Borris petty sessions, on Friday the 6th day of February
1835, deposeth saith, that a riot took place in the chapel-yard of the
said County, one of the principals in said riot, being duly served with
a summons to appear at Borris petty sessions, on Friday 6th Instant,
contemptuously refused to obey said summons, and did not appear, for
which offence he was convicted. Informant swears that he saw aforesaid
Edward Brian throwing stones and assaulting a boy of the name of James
Roach.
