Pig stolen and found.
Carlow, October 1824,
From Pat Purcell Papers,

James Huns of Liscarrow, Townland of Liscarrow, Parish of Anaugh, Barony of Costello, and County of Mayo, Pig Dealer~~
Saith he usually resides at the Place above and that on the evening of the 10th of July last (being the fair Day of Tullow in the County of Carlow) he enclosed Nine Pigs in a yard to the Rear of the House of Christopher Nowlan of Tullowbeg and that during the night between the 10th and 11th of July one of the said Pigs were stolen out of said yard, the value of which Pig was about thirty one Shillings and further Saith that some time in the latter end of August last Christopher Nowlan found said Pig in the Possession of Patrick Tomney of Tullowland in Carlow,

The Information of Catherine Whiteacre of the Town of Carlow who being duly sworn and examined saith that she bought a blanket from a person by the name of Bridget Power on yesterday for three shillings which Informant since heard was stolen from Mary Kelly, Carlow. Sworn before me this 1^st September 1825,

County of Carlow To Wit

The jurors for our Lord the King upon their Oath say and present that Adam Nowlan and James Kelly both of Bagenalstown in said Coy Yeomen on the 31 Day of March in the the fourth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign, Lord George the Fourth. By the Grace of God, of the United kingdom of Great Britian and Ireland, King Defender of the Faith, and so forth, with Force and Arms, that is to say, with Swords, Sticks, and soforth at Dunleckney in the County of Carlow, in and upon one Sam Ablee a true and faithful Subject Crown and there being, did make an Assault, and him then and there did Beat and Ill-treat, and other Wrongs to him then and there did, contrary th the Peace of our said Lord the King, his Crown and Dignity,

County of Carlow to Wit ~ By a Magistrate for said County. The Informations of John Freeman of Baranderg in the County of Wicklow , farmer ~ who being duly Sworn and Examined Deposeth and Saith ~ That on Friday the 9th of April 1824 he was sent by his employer Mr John Rourk of Tinahely in the County of Wicklow in company with Thomas Brien of Bough in the County of Carlow, farmer and Michael Coogan of Bally ? in the County of Carlow, farmer to [ ? ] timber for scaffolding for the steeple building to the Church in Rathvilly ~ John Freeman saith that Thomas Brien and Michael Coogan had some dispute on the road, they agreed to fight ~[ bottom of page missing ] ~ Thomas Brien hit Michael Coogan on the head with a large stick from behind which resulted in the death of Coogan.
