Quaker's farm,
Killeshin
Nationalist,
January 1921.
Result of
arbitration dealing with the dispute concerning the "Quaker's Farm"
Killeshin.
I find that Mr.
John Whelan purchased the Quaker's farm bona fide in the open market
nearly 20 years ago, and that he had an absolute right to sell same.
I Feb. 1919 Mr.
Whelan advertised the "Quaker's farm" for sale, Mr. John McDonald
offered £7,000 and the lands were sold to him. I find that Mr. Mc
Donald is in strict justice entitled to the possession, use and
occupation of said lands.
Mr. McDonald
might have from patriotic or philanthropic motives abstained from
purchasing the farm, and the people of Killeshin might have acquired
these lands in that case.
