July 1921 Notice. Poster in the PPP. NOTICE. The Truce 1921 The Republican Divisional Liaison Officer who has a permanent office at the Town Hall Carlow wishes the public to understand that they are expected to co-operate with the Republican Army in the detection of criminal acts perpetrated by irresponsible individuals during the Truce period. The Republican forces cannot be expected to devote day and night to such work. The Republican Liaison Officer will demand the infliction of the extreme penalty on any person or persons violating the Truce. BY ORDER Eamon de Valera President of The Irish Republic. July 1921.
