Nipper O'Toole Nationalist 18th Feb. 1922. FIRST ANNIVERSARY. Impressive scenes were witnessed in Carlow on Friday morning on the First anniversary of the death of Mr Padraig O' Toole who died in Ballykinlar Prison Camp, after a few months' internment, on the 9th February 1921. There was a large congregation present at the Mass in the Cathedral, which was offered up for the repose of his soul by the Rev John Killian, C.C. at 9 o'clock. After the Mass a procession was formed which wended its way to St. Mary's Cemetery. The following marched in the procession, headed by the Graiguecullen St. Fiacc's Band. The Carlow and Graiguecullen Companies of Volunteers, Carlow and Graiguecullen Fianna, Carlow Cumann na mBan, Carlow Fire Brigade (in uniform), representatives of the Carlow County Council, Carlow Urban Council, Carlow Board of Guardians, Carlow Trades Council, Carlow Transport Workers' Union, Carlow Town Tenants League. The Rosary was recited in Irish at the graveside by Mr Padraig Kane, who delivered a short and touching oration, after which three volleys were fired over the grave. The procession then reformed, and marched to Hay Market, where it was dismissed.
