QUESTIONS IN THE HOUSE.

Carlow Barracks

HC Deb 16 November 1908 vol 196 cc863-4 863

MR. ASHLEY - I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether the barracks at Carlow, to which the 144th Battery Royal Field Artillery have been moved from Ballinrobe, are in a proper state of repair; and whether it is intended to keep this battery there during the winter.

MR. HALDANE - The reply to both Questions is in the affirmative.

MR. ASHLEY - Was it not stated in the Army List last week that the battery was only temporarily stationed at Ballinrobe? My information is that the barracks are in a very unsatisfactory state. Will the right hon. Gentleman inquire further?

MR. HALDANE - I have done so, and I have received a far more favourable account than the hon. Member appears to have done.

Carlow Barracks.

HC Deb 07 December 1908 vol 198 c62 62

MR. ASHLEY - I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether it is his intention to keep troops permanently stationed in the barracks at Carlow; and, if so, whether repairs of an extensive character will be undertaken.

MR. HALDANE - No, Sir.
