I knew nothing was known about Denis Moran and his
Margaret until his photo was discovered in The Irish Post in London in
Nov 1995 when he and his wife were attending a Killarney Reunion dinner
and the photo was spotted by me (Michael Brennan) and decided to
investigate because it had said that he came from Carlow, Ireland.
It turns out he is a third cousin of mine on my
grandmothers side of the family.
As a boy he lived in number 20 Dublin Road Carlow, two doors from his
Grand Parents. His house was opposite St. Leo's College, Dublin Road,
Carlow.
He also was a Choir boy and sung in Carlow Cathedral. After leaving
school Denis went to work for Carlow County Council.
He came to London in 1959.
They were Fox Trot champions in 1966.
Denis cannot remember his Dad because he died when he was only 6 years
of age. His father was James (Jimmy) Moran and his mother was Mary
Catherine Walsh also from Dublin Road, Carlow.
He was a long time member of the Carlow Association London and served as
Chairman for some years.
Retired at the age of 67 in 1994.
He was known as the Morans from the Dublin Road, Carlow.
He was a member of the local choir in Brockley. London.
He was also a member of The Knights of Colomba.
He was buried in Hither Green Cemetery Lewisham, London on Thursday 25th
February 1999.
