Thomas James Nolan (b. 1909) in Graiguecullen
standing in front of what I believe was his boyhood home at No 17
Maryborough Street taken c.1970. We would like to know where this house was located and if anyone remembers it. Image provided by Maribeth E. Nolan Nov 2012. |
This was also Brennan's pub in Graiguecullen on the corner of Maryboro Street / Morrin's Lane and was taken a bit earlier than the view from the bridge (below). I believe Michael and Mary Brennan from Castlecomer had purchased this pub in 1892 , they also had two farms near Derrymoyle. In 1902 Mary Brennan was shot dead in the house. She was 48 years old. Brennans is situated 30 yards from Glovers. Recently the Brennan family sold the pub, it is now under new management. Source Michael Purcell Images sent in by Maribeth E. Nolan c2008 |
