This
is an image of a beautiful lady known as Honoria Aughney, the daughter of John Aughney and
Mary Anne Kelly of Roscat, Co. Carlow, born 1871 and died during the
Spanish flu epidemic of 1918. According to John Doyle of Castledermot,
Co. Kildare, Honoria went to France to take on the position of
governess. She died in France of the flu, having never returned home.
This is a photograph of an oil on canvas, that hung in the Doyle home;
John and his brother Pat were kind enough to let me take the photo.
Honoria was John's great-grand-aunt, (and my 2nd cousin 3 times
removed!). ~ Source: Sue C
