An
Inquisition Indented taken for our Sovereign Lord the King at
the Gaol in the Town and County of Carlow aforesaid the Fourth
day of June 1805 before James Ryan Esq. Coroner of said County
on View of the Body of Edward Fitzpatrick late a Prisoner in
said County then and there lying dead upon the Oath of; John
Cullen, Patrick Kelly, Thomas Gerviss (?), Danial Hickey, Andrew
Moore, William Dunne, Robert Baker, Thomas Blakeney, John Kenny,
Henry Green, Patrick Sullivan, Robert Long and William Moore,
Good and Lawful men of the said County who being then and there
duly sworn and charged to Inquire for our said Lord the King,
when, how and by what means the said Edward Fitzpatrick came to
his death do upon their Oath Say that the said Edward
Fitzpatrick on the Third day of June aforesaid and for a long
time before being a Prisoner in the Gaol of the said County was
sickly and infirm and that he on the said Third of June
aforesaid at the Gaol aforesaid departed this life by the
Visitation of God in a natural way wit of said ailment and
infirmity and not by any Violent means whatsoever to the
knowledge of the said Jurors.
In Witness
whereof as well the said Coroner and John Cullen -- the foreman
of said jury on behalf of himself and the rest of the said
Fellows in their presence have to this Inquisition set their
hands and Seal the day year and month first within Written ~~

An
interesting aside to the Inquest reports is the listing of the
jury men...
in the
Thomas Farrell report the jurors are from Leighlinbridge area...
in the case of Edward Fitzpatrick the jurors are from Carlow
town...
When Percy
Farrell got to Australia I believe he changed his first name;
descendants of his from Queensland, Aust. were in communication
with Pat Purcell in the 1950s,unfortunately I don't have any
further information on them at present.
