Sadness at death of Jim Lawler at just 56
Saturday, February 06, 2010
THE COMMUNITIES of Carlow and Graiguecullen were saddened to
learn of the passing Jim Lawler of Oakley Crescent, Graiguecullen, and
formerly of St Fiaac's Terrace. Just weeks short of his 57th birthday, Jim's
passing on Saturday February 6th came as a great shock to his family and
friends.
Originally from St Fiaac's Terrace, where his father Johnny still
resides, Jim had two brothers and two sisters and is remembered as being a
loving family man and devoted husband. He married Anne (nee Dormer) in March
1975 and the couple had a son and a daughter, John and Michelle. They lived
in New Oak Estate in Carlow town before relocating to Oakley Crescent 16
years ago. Jim worked in the Sugar Factory in Carlow and in Lapple for many
years until he retired early in 1986. He had great time for his work
colleagues and made many friends during his years in Lap-pie and missed the
lads after he retired. Jim was a funny fellow, a fun-loving man who enjoyed
a laugh and joke with everyone he met.
He was a big fan of the GAA and a
lifetime supporter of Laois football. He was an unassuming man, a kind man
who often carried out a good deed for a neighbour or friend without anyone
knowing, never looking for praise or thanks. He was a devoted family man and
a loving husband. He was a grandfather to Jake, James and 13-year-old Jonelle who was the apple of his eye. Jim would have celebrated his 57th
birthday on Saturday and his passing brought great sadness to the community.
He was removed to St Clare's Church in Graiguecullen for Requiem Mass
followed bj* burial at Sleaty New Cemetery, Carlow. He will be sadly missed
by his loving wife Anne, much loved son and daughter John and Michelle, his
grandchildren Jonelle, Jake and James, daughter-in-law Hilary, son-in-law
Gary, brothers Joe and John, sisters Elizabeth and Margaret,
brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, uncles, nephews, nieces, relatives and
friends.
