Mrs. Mary Whyte.
The death took
place rather unexpectedly on Monday of Mrs. Mary Whyte, Mill Street,
Carlow. She was a
member of an
old and respected Carlow family, the late Mrs Whyte took a great
interest in everything pertaining to the welfare of her native town.
She was a
prominent member of the Women's National Health Association.
In her the
Gaelic League always had a staunch supporter and when a branch of the
League was first started in the town she, being a talented musician had
a big hand in organisation of concerts and other social functions held
under that auspices.
She was a
member of the Irish National Foresters and was instrumental in having a
ladies section added to the local branch some years ago.
Of a kindly and charitable
disposition she was held in esteem by all who knew her and her friends
were legion.
