As  published (above) in the 1918 Christmas Edition of The Nationalist

The following telegrams were received last Friday week: -

Self-determination abu!-P Gaffney, Belfast Jail.” “The Nationalist and Leinster Times,” Carlow Congratulations to Carlow on noble stand for Independence. Deeply grateful for powerful advocacy of the cause by ‘Nationalist and Leinster Times.’ Convey my appreciation to all supporters. J. Lennon. Belfast Jail.” The Hon. Sec., Mr Lennon’s Election Committee in Carlow, received telegrams from almost every constituency in Ireland congratulating the county Carlow electors on the splendid victory registered for freedom.
