Action of Ejectment. 1847.

Landlord and Plaintiff:- Benjamin Bingham Feltus, Esquire.

Vs.

Defendants:- James Nowlan, William Ounahan, John Maher and Catherine Maher lately Fenlon, his wife - Maria Fenlon, John Nelson, Judith Gallagher, widow - Patrick Morrissey, John Byrne, Michael Carris, James Nowlan, Daniel Fitzpatrick, Dennis Kearney, James Eustace, Johanna Neill ~~ for Recovery of all that and those part of the Lands of Kilmaglush containing 5 acres, 1 rood, 10 perches, Irish Plantation Measure or thereabouts together with the Houses thereon in the Barony of Forth bounded on the North by part of the Lands of Kilmaglush in the possession of Denis Kearney and Michael Clowery on the South and West by said Lands of Kilmaglush in the possession of Denis Kearney and on the East by the high road from Myshall to Carlow and situate in the Parish of Myshall, Barony of Forth.

Amount due £10 Pounds, 5 shillings, 6 pence being one and more Years Rent.

Now Benjamin Bingham Feltus, Esquire, of Hollybrook, the Landlord by virtue of an Indenture of Lease dated 21st Sept. 1841 made between Adam Bloomfield Feltus, Esquire on one part and Hugh Kavanagh on the other.

1847 Action for Ejectment.

Defendants:- James Mahon, James Kavanagh, Thomas Donohoe, John Kelly, John Kelly, John Kelly, Martin Flood, John Murphy, Thomas Murphy, John Kavanagh, John Kehoe, John Kavanagh, Catherine Reilly, Biddy Mac, Patrick Hogan, William Kehoe and Patrick Rourke., for recovery and Possession of All that and those part of the Lands of Raheenleigh containing 18 acres, more or less.

Bounded on the North and East by the road from Leighlin Bridge to Newtownbarry and by William and Michael Fitzgerald holding. on the West by the road from Borris to Newtownbarry and on the South by a straight ditch near Bernacorobet -- which divides the said 36 acres ( ? ) -- the remainder of Raheenleigh containing 300 and 30 acres  being between the ditch at the North and the River Burrin at the South and Kilbranish on the East, held in partnership with the Tenants situate in Carlow.

Amount due: £32 - 8 shillings and 11 pence.

Landlord - Benjamin Bingham Feltus, Esquire of Hollybrook by virtue of an Indenture and Lease dated 5th August 1809 between Adam Bloomfield Feltus, Esquire, on one part and John Mahon, Timothy Mahon and Edward Kavanagh.

Sworn before me in open Court 31st December, 1847 at Tullow.

By H.Eustace one of Her Majesty's Justices for Carlow.

Peter Nowlan, Labourer, of Conaberry, Ballon.

who being duly sworn etc. saith that on the night on 13th March 1847 a brown mare value ?10 was stolen from out of a Stable at Conaberry,  the mare was the property of his father John Nowlan, he has no knowledge of the person or persons who stole the mare.

1847 - Stolen Property

Names: Toole, Farrell & Hagarty.

Peter Toole, Farmer, maketh Oath that he usually resides at Tomduff, Parish of Kiltenal, Barony of Idrone East, County Carlow, this 3rd June 1847.

Peter intends to Prosecute Martin Farrell of Tomduff for having stolen Wheat in his possession the property of James Toole.

The Information of Thomas Hegarty of the City of Dublin who came this day before me M.E. White - Esquire, one of his Majestys Justices of the Peace in and for Carlow and being duly sworn saith that on the night of Friday the 24th September or early the following morning a Gold Watch with a chain of Black Ribbon - about One Sterling Pound in Gold and Sliver - a Razor, Lathering Brush - Tooth Brush and one or two Silk Handkerchiefs my property were stolen out of my apartment at Carpenter's Hotel, Carlow by some person or persons at present unknown to me. (signed) Thomas Hegarty. Sworn before me at Carlow this 26th day of September 1847.

[note added by White] Lar Ryan otherwise Luggy Ryan otherwise Peg Leg Ryan was seen to have a Gold Watch in his possession outside the Popish chapel on this Sunday morning and offered same to James Grimes for sale. James Grimes is willing to swear Information in order that Mister Hegarty may have justice done to him and be restored his stolen goods. I have instructed Constable James Foley to apprehend Lar Ryan otherwise Luggy Ryan otherwise Peg Leg Ryan and place him in Custody in Carlow Jail.
