The
Examination of Sarah English of Castleroo in the County
of Kildare, Widow taken before William Browne Esquire.

Who being
duly Sworn on the Holy Evangelists & Examined saith that
on the Evening of Monday last the 29th of August last
one Patrick. Norton, who lived in the Town of Carlow,
came into Examinant's House & after calling for and
drinking some Ale, he gave a Silver piece to Examinant
(which piece Examinant is informed is a Meddal of Wm.
Pitt) in order to Change same & pay for said Ale. Saith
she then changed said piece or Meddal & gave him four
shillings & six pence for said piece. & which piece is
now Challenged by Mrs. Sarah Hesitrige of Carlow as her
property.

acknowledged before me this 1st day of Sept., 1785

This said
Examinant is bound to our Lord the King in the sum of
£50 Sterling. Conditionally to appear & prosecute at
next General Assizes to be held in Carlow for said
County
