Wall's Forge
/ Browne-Clayton
- An Agreement made the 8th day of May 1916. Between Colonel
Robert Browne Clayton of Brownes Hill, Carlow of the One Part and
Peter Wall of Carlow, Blacksmith of the Other Part.
- Witnesseth and Saith that Robert Browne Clayton hereby lets and
the Said Peter Wall takes All that and those the dwelling house,
forge, out offices and land lately held by James Dowling and
containing over 4 acres or thereabouts situate at Chapelstown in the
County of Carlow. bounded by the two country roads and the lands
held by Mrs O' Brien and Thomas Agar. As a monthly Tenant at the
monthly rent of One Pound to commence from 1st May 1916, first
payment to be made on the 1st June 1916 and it is further agreed
that the Said Peter Wall shall keep the said premises in good order,
fair wear and be as excepted - the Said Landlord carrying out any
necessary repairs and to keep and maintain any portion of the
fences.
- And it is further agreed that one Months Notice in writing from
anytime by either Landlord or Tenant shall be sufficient to
determine the tenancy.
