    Fr. Niall O’Brien: We pray to-day for Father Niall O’Brien and his companions in jail in the Philippines, who stand trial during this coming week. We ask God to grant them courage and strength in this time o need.

    Pope John Paul in his new letter on “Suffering” says … “Together with Mary, the Mother of Christ, who stood at the foot of the Cross, we too stand beside the crosses of men and women to-day.

    St. Patrick’s College: Annual collection in aid of the College takes place to-day.    If you did not receive an envelope during the week, you can get one at the back of the Church and drop your offering in the collection box as it is passed around in the church.

    Spina Bifida: Help a child to walk. Annual collection to-day. A worthy cause.

    Novena:  To our Mother of Perpetual Help on next Friday evening at 7.30 p.m. and on Saturday at 10 a.m. and 4p.m. Confessions before, during and after each sessionof the Novena.

    Weekly Collection: Amount received last Sunday was £1.545. Our sincere thanks.

    Carlow C.B.S. Gym Fund: A new Gym, to be built at the C.B.S. The committee are holding a monster raffle in May to raise funds. Members Draw – Prize Fund of £26,000. First prize £10,00. 50 prizes on offer including Opel Corsa. Luxury holiday. T.V’s, Video etc. Members coined to 1,000. For further information contact any staff member of C.B.S. Sec.     Carlow Lions Club Auction: Carlow Lions are holding a charity auction on Sunday 26th February in St. Fiac’s Hall, Graiguecullen. Those wishing to contribute items o the sale, such as household goods and furniture ring Lions at 31676 or 31171 or contact any Lions member. The Lions will make arrangements for the collection of all items.

    Legion of Mary: Mass of thanksgiving for the work done by the Legion in other countries in 1983 will be celebrated on Thursday next, in the Cathedral at 7.30 p.m.
