The Sacred Heart Hospital is a single-storey building.
Currently it has a total capacity for 81 residents. The
centre provides long-term care, rehabilitation and respite
services. These services are usually provided to persons over 65
years of age; however some persons under the age of 65 years are
offered rehabilitation services.
All residents for long-stay
admission receive a multi-disciplinary assessment prior to
admission. There is also a day hospital which provides places for
nine persons and also provides a range of multi-disciplinary team
outpatient clinics for wound care, diabetes, fall prevention,
physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy,
chiropody, Parkinson's disease, cardiac disease and 24-hour blood
pressure monitoring. On entering the building there is a reception
area and reception desk.
The office of the person in charge and
administrative offices are located close by. There is a conference
room, an oratory and a room of repose on the main corridor. There
is a hairdressing room and multi-purpose room which is also used
for staff training and education. A visitors’ room with a sofa bed
can be used by relatives to stay over when necessary. Tea and
coffee-making facilities are also available. There is a large
catering department which caters for other HSE hospitals in the
area. Each of the units has its own kitchenette.
