Sarah Brennan & Edward Brennan
 

Sarah Brennan was born 11 Sep 1888 (in the 1911 Census of Ireland. 1838 could be a misprint) in Accommodation Rd. Carlow, and died 16 Jan 1968 at No 8 Staplestown Road, (Closh) Carlow. She married Edward Brennan (b.16 Dec 1884., from Barrack Street. Carlow).  He died 09 Jul 1928 in Closh, Carlow.


Sarah Brennan and Edward Brennan 
were married on 27 Feb 1907 at Cathedral of the Assumption, Carlow.

Edward is the son of Edward Brennan (b.18 Apr 1838 in Arles. Co Laois) and his wife Elizabeth Goodlow, from Graiguecullen, Carlow.

Sarah Brennan was well known for her cure for whooping cough.

Children of Sarah Brennan and Edward Brennan are:

1. Edward Brennan, b.01 Mar 1907, Staplestown Road, (Closh) Carlow; d.25 May 1932, Carlow.


2. James Brennan
, b.1908 Staplestown Road. Carlow (Source: 1911 census)


3. Elizabeth (Lizzie) Brennan b. 1st Mar 1910 Staplestown Road.  Carlow. (Source: 1911 census). She died 25 May 1932.


4. Thomas Brennan
, b.1911, Staplestown Road, (Closh) Carlow. d.22 Mar 1957.


5. Martin Brennan 
b.1912 died young in 1912 in Staplestown Road, (Closh) CarlowSource: FindMyPast website.


6. Patrick Brennan
, b.1912, Staplestown Road, (Closh) Carlow; d. 20 Jun 1948, Carlow.


7. William (Bill) Brennan, b.1913, Staplestown Road, Carlow.  (Source: 1911 census) He married Johanna Jean Piggott. (b.1907) on 20 Sep 1930 in Carlow.Ireland.

They had three children namely Thomas, Patrick and Seamus. This information comes from word of mouth and it has'nt been verifyed yet. I can confirm 2 and they are Edward (Eddie) and Madge – I believe the other named children came from a different source yet to be verified.  Bill went on to have a military career in England, I have no more information yet on his military career. 8. Christopher (Christy) Brennan b.1918 and d. c,2008 aged 90 and he lived on Sleaty Street, Graiguecullen and married Bridget Byrne
in the 1930s. Christopher is buried in Sleaty Cemetery.


Child of Christopher (Christy) Brennan & Bridget Byrne are:

Patrick (Dancer) Brennan. He went to America and joined the U.S. Armed forces He served with the U.S. Armed forces in war-torn South Vietnam in 1966.

Joseph 'Juggers' Brennan, b.c.1920 at Bridewell Lane, Carlow. Joseph married Una Scully from College Street. Carlow., in 1949 at Carlow.  Juggers was a Bell ringer in the Cathedral (amongst other jobs) along with his brothers and sisters living between Graiguecullen and Staplestown Rd. 10. Mary Brennan, b.Feb 1921, Staplestown Road, (Closh) Carlow; d. ????

Mary married Denis (Dinny) Hayden, Graiguecullen they had 5 children and lived in Pacelli Ave in Graiguecullen.

 

11. Annie (Nancy) Elizabeth Brennan, b.11 Apr 1929, Staplestown Road, (Closh) Carlow. Annie married John Campion b.1883, of Moneenroe. Co Kilkenny. Elizabeth Anne died in 1995 aged 66 years.

Annie and Jim had 3 Children. Patrick, Maureen and Margaret.
