Rathvilly

RATHVILLY is a parish containing 22 Townlands, and a village in the barony of its name, co. Carlow, with a station on the Great Southern and Western railway, head of a dispensary district in union of Baltinglass, Protestant diocese of Leighlin, Catholic diocese of Kildare, 31 miles south of Dublin, 6 from Tullow and 4 from Baltinglass. Lisnavagh is the seat of Lord Rathdonnell. The Protestant church is a plain building, with a lofty spire ; and there is also a commodious Catholic church. The area of the parish comprises 9,212 acres ; the population in 1891 was 1,633 : t u e a r e a °f *-ae village comprises 3 acres ; the population in 1891 was 350.

Myshall

MYSHALL, a village and parish in Co. Carlow, partly in the barony of Idrone East, but chiefly in that of Forth, the head of a petty sessional division and of a dispensary district in the union of Carlow, Protestant diocese of Leighlin and Catholic diocese of Kildare, 7 miles east-south-east from Bagnalstown station on the Great Southern and Western and the Dublin, Wicklow and Wexford railways, 8 miles east-south-east from Leighlin Bridge, on the road from Newtown Barry to Bagnalstown, on the north side of the river Burrin. A portion of the parish is mountainous, Kilbranish being 1,335 feet high. Myshall House is the seat of John Cornwall Brady Esq. J.P. For Protestant purposes the parish is joined to that of Fenagh. Petty sessions are held every fourth Wednesday and road sessions four times in the year. Fairs are held on May 10th and September 14th. The area of the parish comprises 9,472 acres; the population in 1891 was 1135. The area and population of the village are included in those of the townland it stands on.

 POST OFFICE.—John Murphy, postmaster. Letters through Bagnalstown, arrive at 8.15 a.m. & i-55 p.m. & are dispatched at 9.30 a.m. & 6 s p.m. ; Sundays, 10 a.m. only. Nearest money order office at Fenagh & telegraph office at Newtown Barry.

The Petty Sessional district comprise 211,529 acres, containing 62 Townlands the population in 1891 was 2,671 A court is held every fourth Wednesday
