The Late Tommy Brennan
a popular Carlow man
Carlow People newspaper, Thursday December 06 2001
Popular and well known local man Mr. Tommy Brennan, of Avondale
Drive, Carlow who died at the District Hospital on Tuesday, 20
November, was late of Curragh Cottage.
Tommy married the late Maureen Travers and lived in Brown Street
for many years. For many years he had his own hackney car, and a
more courteous, and obliging driver you could not meet. Distance
was no problem to Tommy day or night. He later worked as a
driver with the White Star Laundry, Montgomery Street.
Tommy drove many couples to and from the church for wedding
ceremonies in his hackney car.
For
many years, Carpenters Hearse was driven by Tommy for funerals.
He excelled at this particular job and could always be depended
upon to see that nothing went wrong, at this sad time for many.
Tommy enjoyed life, always good for a laugh, he enjoyed his pint
and loved a dance and a singsong. He could keep a conversation
going for hours!
Tommy buried his son 'Batty' some years back. His daughter
Margaret and grandchild Ciara will miss him, as will all who
knew and loved him, especially his two brothers Willie and
Jimmy, nephews, nieces, his friend Rita, many relatives and the
large circle of friends who will always hold fond memories of
Tommy.
Burial took place after 10am Mass in the Cathedral, 22nd
November to St. Mary's Cemetery Carlow.
