WHELAN, RICHARD, Carlow. town, revenue officer. 26 April 1785. Narrate, part in full, 2% pp. 25 April 1793. To his son Pearson Whelan that part of his house in Tullow Street as same was lately held by Chr. Pitt, apothecary, deed., and to his heirs male or female, subject to £1 yearly ground rent, in default to his son Robert Whelan. To his son Richd. Whelan and his heirs his interest in land in Dollardstown Road held under Edwd. Hunt, Esq.; in default to his son Thos. Whelan. Also to said son Richd. the shop that he then worked in with the little room behind, and the room backwards where he kept his coals and turf, and after his decease to his son Thos. Whelan. To his son Robt. Whelan that part of his house in Tullow Street joining that part held by his son said Pearson Whelan and Thos. Taylor, ale draper, he paying £3. 2. Od yearly ground rent, subject to 40 shillings a year bequeathed to his daughter Ann Whelan. To his son Thos. and to his heirs the house he then lived in excepting the shop and the two rooms behind already devised to his son Richard for life. To son Thos. Whelan £60 and to his daughter £20 and furniture. To his daughter Alice Rossell (Bossell?) £60 as a marriage portion and £5 to buy mourning for an affectionate father. Carlow, which I hold from Edwd. Cooper, Esq., by a lease for lives, except Martin Carty's, Michl. Heydon's and Garrett Hewlett's parts, subject to the yearly rent of £180 which I bequeathed to my fourth son Anty. Newbold; should said Thos. Newbold die before he reaches his full age of twentyone, then to my third son Ambs., then to my fifth son Robt., and then to second son Jas. Newbold; should the foregoing die before reaching the age of twentyone subject to a legacy of £600 for his surviving sisters. PIM, JOSHUA, Tullylost, Co. Kildare. 15 July 1796. Full 2 p. 30 Dec 1799. 143 To my kinsman Abraham Neale, Christians, Co. Kildare, farmer, and Edwd. Macguilllin, Rathangan, the town and lands of Milltown and Inch, Queen's Co., and Dristoge [Drisoge], Castle Grace, and Ballymog[u]e, Co. Carlow, in trust to provide an annuity for my wife Mary Pirn out of Ballymoge instead of the £20 yearly settled on her by my father Thos. Pirn, deceased, in his last will, and the profits arising out of Dristoge for life, and then to my youngest son John Pim. The townlands known as Castle Grace to my eldest son Joshua Pim                 subject to an annuity of £30 to my second son Wm. Pim, and the lands of Ballymoge share and share alike to said Wm. Pim and my youngest son John Pim, after my wife's death and not till then. My part of Milltown and Inch, Queen's Co, now called Thos. Court, to the use of my two daughters Jane Pim and Hannah Pim, and the holding in Mountrath, share and share alike, held under lease from the Earl of Mt.rath to my father Thos. Pim of 15 Oct. 1772. My half of a holding in Mountrath held under lease from the then Earl of Mountrath to my said father of 17 Oct. 1713 to said Wm. Pim. The other half belongs to John Pim Jos. now in London. To my son John Pim my holding at the little Bridge in the town of Mountrath held by John Walpole from me, and a plot of ground below street also in Mountrath which 'the labourers formerly dwelled in' that my father Thos. Pim, deceased, held by lease from John Pim Jos. merchant, 'there is only old Cousin Moses Pim's life of it'. My holding in Desarkbeagh? near Mountrath to said John Pim on certain conditions. To my wife all my holdings including my house in Tullylost, my part of my holding in Thos.town with all my corn, hay, turf and sea [? seed], household goods and furniture, silver, plate, pewter, beds, blankets, curtains, house linen of all kinds, all my seals and weights except two half hundreds for my son Wm. Pim, the big mare and the mare I bought from Francis Metcalf, my cows, heifers, calves, my cars, ploughs, harrows, and all other implements of husbandry, she having power only to dispose of cows, heifers and calves and leave the furniture, etc. to the child or children that behave themselves with the best respect, duty and regard, and that my wife and children live in harmony and true love. £200 out of the goods and chattels that may devolve to me out of the estate of my son Thos. Pirn,(Pim) deceased, in lieu of £100 promised him on his marriage with Elizabeth Miller, and the residue to be divided among my children. Seized in fee of the lands of Newtownwelsh otherwise Ovenstown, barony of Shillelogher, Co. Kilkenny, and of Brenardmore [Brenormore], barony of Iffa and Offa, Co. Tipperary, which I devise to my son Patk. Welsh, subject to a jointure of £100 per annum to my wife Elizh. Welsh which I think too little for her, I therefore bequeath to my said son Patk. my interest in the house and lands of Archersgrove, Co. Kilkenny, which I hold by lease of lives from Richard Cox, Esq., paying an additional 50 guineas per annum to my wife. My interest in lands near Callan, held from Lord Callan for three lives and 31 years and my interest in the lands of Ballydaniel, Woodlands, Co. Tipperary, held under the Earl of Carrick for three lives, subject to an annuity to Richd. Welsh third son of Mary Kelly. TOMLINSON, THOMAS, Rathglass, ? Co. Carlow , gent. 22 Dec. 1824. Full 11/4 p. 22 Nov. 1825. To my nephew Mathw. Tomlinson and his heirs my interest in that part of the lands of Coolmanatgh]), Co. Carlow now in the possession of William Kenny and that part in the possession of James Doyle, subject to a fair proportion of all rents contained in the grand lease of said lands. By deed of 22 Dec. 1824 I sold to Mr John Moffett, Colstown, Co. Kildare, my interest in that remaining portion of said lands then in the possession of Charles and James Neal, which I now confirm. To my nephew Daniel Tomlinson all I receive out of the house and yard tenanted now by Laurance Walsh, and my interest in the freehold property arising from Robert Wandesford, and that property from the houses and concerns tenanted by Timothy Conally in the town of 'or otherwise' [by] Stanly Jonson of Carlow, and my interest from that house occupied from Captain Galbraith, town of Carlow, and my interest arising from Luke Lynch or Timothy Deighton in Carlow. I also leave said Daniel the profit and interest arising from a turnpike debenture bequeathed to me by my wife Frances Tomlinson. One shilling to my brothers Francis and Danl. Tomlinson. WIDOW MURPHY ?ANIEL, Ballymoon, parish of Dunleckney, Co. Carlow, farmer, 22 April 1812. Full 2 pp. 5 April 1828. To be interred in the churchyard at Dunleckney. To my wife Johanna Murphy alias Kinsallagh the whole of my houses and lands in the townland of Ballymoon with all my goods and chatties for life if she remains a widow. My farm in Augha, Co. Carlow and the goods and chatties therein for five years, and the profits arising from Curraghcrutha called the Wood during the lease thereof held by James Fenlon, on her fulfilling the following bequests I make to my ten children. I order my eldest son 1*James to live and remain unmarried for seven years with his mother. My fourth eldest son 2*Nicholas shall live and remain unmarried with his mother for five years. To my second and third sons 3*William and 4*Thos. £400 share and share alike to be paid as soon as they go to business under the direction of my exor. To my sons 5*Timothy, 6*Daniel and 7*Edwd., £300 share and share alike as soon as they are completely educated and finished in any business my exor. shall put them to. To my daughters 8*Maryanne and 9*Johanna £400 share and share alike. My eldest daughter 10*Christiana Doyle, for whom I have already provided, 507- to buy a mourning ring. The profit rent out of a house in Carlow willed to me by my mother to be carefully reserved and divided among my minor children. A house suitable for my son Nicholas to live in to be built on the lands of Augha and be stocked with cattle and sheep at the expiration of five years he paying £400 and £30 per annum for my minor children. My son James when he marries to reside in Ballymoon in another house provided for him and have an annuity out of Ballymoon for his support. Should James or Nicholas die some other of my male children to inherit their lands. Carlow or elsewhere. £30 to Rev. Daniel Downing for the benefit of Thomas Bailie late sargeant of the Carlow Staff provided he conduct himself with propriety to said Daniel Downing and his wife Sarah Bailie otherwise Watson who is his exor. and sole residuary legatee. Witnesses: Rev. Saml. Downing, Ballybrommell, elk., John Watson, Ballydarton, Esq., and Letitia Jenkisson, Ballyknockan, all in Co. Carlow. Memorial witnessed by: said Letitia Jenkinson, and John J.
