Palatine club was founded in 1909 with a notice in the
"Nationalist" of Ist May 1909 announcing a practice session on the
Sunday. The Palatine Minors played a game against Graigue Minors on the
23rd May 1909 and the Juniors played against Borris on 25th July 1909.
So the foundations were laid for a hundred years of football and we now
embark on the second hundred years.

The game of hurling was fostered with the setting up of
a hurling team in 1963. This led to success in the Minor, Junior,
Intermediate grades and, in 1972, to the winning of the Senior Hurling
Championship. The Intermediate team now flies the flag for the Club.
