HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 155
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
CO-ENDING THE IRISH COUNTY OF CARLOW AND CARLOW TOWN IN THEIR EFFORTS TO
ESTABLISH A RELATIONSHIP WITH THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI.
WHEREAS, many Mississippians need only look to
the Carlow County Heritage Society in tracing their family history; and
WHEREAS, Carlow Town is the Capital of the
County of Carlow and both Carlow County and Carlow Town, Ireland, have
worked hard to maintain relationships with Mississippians of Irish
ancestry and desire to establish new relationships with our great state;
and
WHEREAS, the Carlow County Heritage Society has
rendered great services to the Irish throughout the world, particularly in
Mississippi, by assisting people in searching important family roots; and
WHEREAS, although many have contributed to the
Carlow County Heritage Society, special gratitude should be expressed to
Michael Purcell for his tireless efforts in researching and providing
valuable documentation on genealogy for Mississippi residents of Irish
ancestry; and
WHEREAS, Carlow County Council Chairman, Mr.
James Murnane, along with his delegation, has expended his time and energy
to become an ambassador for Mississippi in Ireland; and
WHEREAS, the world is watching as people from
all nations unite and develop relations on all levels; and
WHEREAS, since Carlow County and Carlow Town
have unique connections with our state, the Legislature of the State of
Mississippi would like to encourage future relations with that community:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING
THEREIN, That we do hereby commend the people of the County of Carlow and
Carlow Town in their efforts to establish a relationship with the State of
Mississippi.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this
resolution be furnished to the County of Carlow and Carlow Town, Ireland,
and to the Capitol Press Corps.
