Obituaries - Campbell, John February 15, 1890 *********************************************** Ireland Genealogy Projects Archives Antrim Index Copyright ************************************************ File contributed by: Murray Thomson thomson10@hotmail.com OBITUARIES - CAMPBELL, JOHN FEBRUARY 15, 1890 Listowel Banner (Ontario, Canada) February 21, 1890 Mr. John Campbell who died on Saturday night after a period of very severe suffering, was well known in town and at Molesworth and Trowbridge, where he formerly resided. He was born in County Antrim, Ireland in 1809. In April 1837 at Belfast he joined the 48th Regiment Infantry and served for five years. He came out to Canada 41 years ago. He was first married in 1834 to Eliza Elliott, who died in 1840, leaving five children, four of whom survive. His second wife Margaret McCallum and four of her children survive him. He was a man held in high respect by his fellow citizens. Additional Comments: He had a brother George who immigrated to the United States and a brother Richard who stayed in Ireland. Richard's son was Crawford Campbell. Somewhere down the blood lines, we have family ties to Robert Lynn, who was an MP for Northern Ireland This was my Great Great Grandfather, he was born in County Antrim about 1809
