Antrim Wills: O'Hagan, John Boyd July 1, 1785 *********************************************** Ireland Genealogy Projects Archives Antrim Index Copyright ************************************************ File contributed by: Rosalind Dunning ros.dunning@outlook.com ANTRIM WILLS: O'HAGAN, JOHN BOYD JULY 1, 1785 Source: National Archives London Written: July 1, 1785 Recorded: December 27, 2019 In the Name of God Amen I John Boyd O’Hagan late of the Island of Jamaica but now of Ballycastle in the County of Antrim and Kingdom of Ireland do make this my last Will and Testament in manner following hereby revoking all former Wills Whereas my Uncle Doctor William Boyd formerly of the said Island of Jamaica but now of Ballycastle aforesaid from tender regard and Affection to me was At considerable Expence of Putting me into Business in said Island And did afterwards in consideration Of a certain Annuity during his life Assign and make over to me All his Effects and Property in said Island consisting of Lands Negroes Bonds and Accounts now I give and devise my whole Property of every kind in said Island unto my said Uncle William Boyd his Heirs and Assigns Subject nevertheless to the Payment of all my just Debts which I desire may be first fully discharged And Also to the Payment of the following Legacies that is to say twenty Pounds Sterling British Currency to Cosby Hall Esquire to Buy a Ring and for the like Purpose to John Darcy George Good in Barret And John Cramsey All of the said Island twenty Pounds each of the like Currency to my two half Sisters daughters to my Father Patrick O Hagan fifty Pounds each Irish Currency and fifty Pounds like Currency to my Foster Father Andrew Thomson and his Family on the account of the Great Care love and tenderness I have Always experienced from him And his Wife that nursed me And whereas my Grandfather the late John Boyd of Ballycastle aforesaid deceased did by his last Will and Testament bequeath to me A Sum of One hundred Pounds Sterling and a House or Tenement in the Town of Ballycastle Aforesaid At the death of his Son the said William Boyd my Uncle without legal Issue now I do hereby acknowledge to have received from my said Uncle full Payment and satisfaction for the said Sum of One hundred Pounds And my Right in Reversion or Remainder to the said House or Tenement And I acquit and release my said Uncle William his Executors Administrators and Assigns of and from any demand or claim that can or may be made by any Person or Persons for or on Account of said Sum of One hundred Pounds or the said tenement by Virtue of my Grandfather’s said Will I appoint my said Uncle Doctor William Boyd Executor of this my last Will and Testament In Testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my Name And affixed my Seal the first day of July in the Year of Our Lord One thousand Seven hundred And Eighty five in the Presence of John McCawly John Vaughan Apothecary and William McKernan Merchant all of Ballycastle aforesaid John Boyd O’Hagan (Attestation Clause) Jno Ma: Gawly _ J Vaughan Surgeon _ Wm McKernan Proved at London 3 July 1786 PCC Prob11/1144
