FROST – July 1, James Frost, native of County Clare, Parish
of Meelich, Ireland, aged 30 years.
	Funeral from his late residence, No. 3810 Emerald av.
To-day at 9:30 to the Church of Nativity, thence by cars to
Cavalry Cemetery. Friends and relatives invited to attend.

Decatur Daily Republican; Decatur, Illinois; March 21, 1882

DIED
In Piatt county, on Monday, March 20, 1882, JOHN CURRY, aged
90 years. The funeral of the deceased took place from St.
Patrick's Church in this city this forenoon, the remains
being laid at rest in the Catholic Cemetery. Mr. Curry was a
native of County Clare, Ireland, and came to America in
January, 1865. He was a father of five children, and had 13
grand-children among other relatives to mourn his death. He
was said to be the oldest man in Piatt county.

Patrick Shea, an old resident of Cook County, died at his
home in Palos yesterday aged 76 years. Mr. Shea came to
America from County Clare, Ireland, in 1836, and settled on
a farm at Palos, where he continued to reside to the time of
his death. One of his sons is Capt. John D. Shea, of
Thirty-fifth Street Station.

DEATH OF MICHAEL ROGERS
The Venerable Gentleman Passes Away This Morning, Aged 97 Years.
	Mr. Rogers, sr., died this morning at 11:30 o'clock at
his home west of the city, at the corner of West Eldorado
street and Oakland avenue. His death was caused by old age,
he being 97 years old at the time of his demise. The
deceased was born in County Claire, Ireland and came to
America in 1847. He moved to Decatur in 1852 and for the
past 30 years he has resided at the place where he died. For
nine years he has been confined to his bed. He leaves a
widow and five children, two sons, Michael, jr., and Patrick
Rogers, and three daughters, Mrs. J.S. Campbell, Mrs. Geo.
B. Peake and Miss Nellie Rogers, to mourn his loss.

Mrs. Ann Rogers Passed Away This Morning
WAS NINETY YEARS OF AGE
And Was One of the Most Aged Residents of the County – Born
in Ireland and Lived in Decatur Since 1853.

From the Daily of Wednesday
	Mrs. Ann Rogers, widow of the late Michael Rogers, died
of a complication of diseases at 8:15 o'clock this morning
at her home on the corner of West Eldorado street and
Oakland avenue, aged 90 years. Mrs. Rogers was well known
and was one of the oldest settlers in the county. The
deceased was born in County Claire, Ireland, in 1808, and
came to this country in 1851. She came to Decatur in 1853
and has resided here ever since. With her husband she
settled on the farm on which she died and has lived in the
same place for may years past. She leaves one son, Michael
Rogers, and three daughters, Mrs. John S. Campbell, Mrs.
Sallie Peake and Miss Ellen Rogers. She leaves two
grandchildren, Mrs. Dennis Bradley and Miss Fannie Campbell,
and five great grand children. Mrs. Rogers was one of the
old members of St. Patrick's Catholic church. She was a
charitable and Christian woman and made many warm friends
during her lifetime. Mrs. Rogers has been in poor health for
the past 16 years, and recently her health has been
gradually failing. Her husband died about five years ago.
The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon
from St. Patrick's Catholic church and the burial will be at
the Catholic cemetery.

Chicago Tribune; Chicago, Illinois; April 18, 1899

CAPTAIN THOMAS MYERS, Chicago, died yesterday at his home,
541 South Leavitt street, after a short illness. He was a
native of County Clare, Ireland, and 77 years old. He was a
gunner's mate on the old frigate Merrimac in the navy from
1855 until 1858, when he came to Chicago and took command on
the bark Norman. He afterwards sailed the schooners Ellen
Spry and Daniel E. Balley. Most of his service was in the
lumber carrying trade. He left a widow and a brother,
Captain Patrick Myers of the schooner Cheney Ames. The
funeral will be held at St. Charles Church tomorrow morning
at 9:30 o'clock.

OBITUARY THOMAS P. RYAN, brother of Joseph E. G. Ryan of
this city and of Capt. John F. Ryan of Fort Worth, Tex.,
died yesterday at the Chicago Policlinic hospital of
tuberculosis developed during the Phillipine war in which he
served as an officer for three years in the battalion
commanded by Maj. Thomas L. Hartigan of Chicago. He was born
in County Clare, Ireland, thirty-three years ago and was the
son of the late Lawrence J. and Emily M.F. Ryan, and a
nephew of the late Lord Bishop John Ryan of Limerick. He
left a widow and an infant son.

JOHN MURPHY DIES AT DAUGHTER'S HOME Worked for City Street
Department Nearly Forty Years

	John H. Murphy, for sixty-one years a resident of
Decatur, forty of which years he spent in the employ of the
city, died at 1:18 p.m. Wednesday at the home of his
daughter, Mrs. William Taylor, 1523 East Eldorado street.
Mr. Murphy would have been 82 years of age had he lived
until March 4. Death was due to old age and to a stroke of
paralysis which he sustained about five months ago.

BORN IN COUNTY CLAIRE Mr. Murphy was born in County Claire,
Ireland, March 4, 1824, and came to this country with his
parents when he was 20 years of age. At first the family
lived in New York, but later came west to Chicago, then to
Decatur. Decatur, when Mr. Murphy first came here, was a
prairie village, with out railroads, though the Illinois
Central had just been completed. Because of his early
knowledge of Decatur and his reliable memory Mr. Murphy was
a pleasant companion.

STREET DEPARTMENT. During his early years here Mr .Murphy
worked at various occupations. While the rolling mills were
here he worked there. About 1870 he went to work for the
city street department and was with that department until
about a year ago. Mr. Murphy's wife, who died some time ago,
was Miss Mary A. Connelly, sister of Mike Connelly. Six
children were born to the union, of whom four survive. They
are Mrs. Lizzie A. Taylor, Miss Sadie Murphy, and Miss Nell
Murphy of Decatur and Joseph A. Murphy of San Francisco. The
funeral will be held from St. Patrick's church at a time yet
to be set.

MRS. M. HOGAN AGED 80 DIES Had Lived Here 55 Years; Mrs.
Dinneen's Aunt. Mrs. Margaret Hogan, aged eighty years, died
at St. Mary's hospital at 3:30 o'clock Friday morning. Death
came after an illness of a month's duration. It was caused
by asthma. Mrs. Hogan had lived in Decatur fifty-five years
and was well known here. Mrs. Hogan was born in County
Claire, Ireland, in 1833. She leaves one son, Charles Hogan,
of Hannibal, Mo. Mrs. Dan Dinneen is a niece.

FUNERAL SATURDAY. The funeral will be held at 1:30 o'clock
Saturday afternoon from St. Patrick's church. The body was
removed to Moran's undertaking parlors.

PATRICK O'HERN, of 5706 South Park avenue died at his son's
residence on Thursday at the age of 78. He enjoyed one of
the happiest moments of his life last year when his son,
Msgr. O'Hern was appointed vice rector of the American
college in Rome, with the right of succession. Born in
County Clare, Ireland, March 17, 1838, he came to this
country in 1864. Besides Msgr. O'Hern he is survived by John
O'Hern, general superintendent of Armour & Co., James and
Thomas O'Hern, Mrs. C.A. McMahon, and Sister Mary Gonzago.
Services will be held at St. Anselm's Roman Catholic church
this morning at 10 o'clock.

	Bement, Oct. 4 – Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine
Curry were held at 9 o'clock Friday morning in St. Michaels
Catholic church, Rev. Father Selk conducted the service.
Burial was in Bement cemetery. Pallbearers were T.A. Roche,
N. Kelley, Patrick Ford, Theodore Ford, William B. Fleming
and Richard M. Fleming. These were selected by Mrs. Curry.

BORN IN IRELAND. Mrs. Curry, whose maiden name was Dorick,
was born in County Clare, Ireland, May 10, 1841. She came to
America when she was bout twenty-five years old and later
came to Bement, where in 1872* she also became the wife of
Patrick Curry, also a native of Ireland.  They moved to a
farm southwest of Bement which is still in the possession of
the family. To them were born seven children, Daniel, John,
Lawrence, Patrick, Michael, Katherine and Cordelia, only one
of whom, Catherine, is the wife of M.M. Ford is now living.
Mr. Curry died several years ago. Mrs. Curry was a generous
contributor to all charitable purposes. As a memorial to her
generosity three churches were built in Montana, Colorado
and Oregon.

MATTHEW HEHIR, LONG ILL, DIES Suffered Stroke of Apoplexy
Month Ago

	Matthew Hehir, 2031 East Prairie street, died at his
home at 1:30 o'clock Friday morning after suffering for a
long time. He suffered a stroke of apoplexy about a month
ago. He was born in County Claire, Ireland, March 5, 1855,
coming to this county at the age of nine years and settlling
in Lostant, Ill., with his parents. He then moved to
Wapsella, Ill., where he was united in marriage to Miss
Catherine Greene. To this union were born twelve children,
two of which preceded him in death. He leaves his wife
Catherine and the following children: T.H. Hehir, of
Rockford, Ill.; Mrs. E.J. McManus of Heyworth, Ill., Mrs.
T.A. O'Neil of Clinton , Ariz; Mrs. John Hart, Mrs. Joe
Hart, Mrs. Walter Masterson, Mrs. Charles Yates of Decatur;
Elizabeth, Irene and Esther at home. He also leaves fourteen
grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Mary McGrath of Union,
Ore., and Mrs. Kattie McGrath of Des Moines, Ia.. He was a
member of St. Patrick's Catholic church,, of the M.W. of A.,
and the Royal Neighbors lodge of Wapella, Ill. The body was
removed to the Moran & Sons funeral home and prepared for
burial.

MATTOON WOMAN DIES MONDAY Funeral of Mrs. Margaret Phelan
Will Be Conducted Thursday. MATTOON, Aug 1 – Mrs. Margaret
Walsh Phelan, widow of the late John Phelan, died in her
home, 2404 Western avenue Monday evening, at 7:15 o'clock
after a several months illness from complications. She was
seriously ill but two weeks. Mrs. Phelan was a daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Walsh and was born in County
Clare, Ireland, Sept. 15, 1847. She came with her parents to
America in 1863 and located in Mattoon where they resided
for many years on the site where the First Baptist church
was built on corner Nineteenth and Richmond avenue. Later
they purchased a home in Western avenue. She saw Mattoon
grow from a village to its present size. She was married to
John Phelan in this city in 1870 *. Seven children were born
to the union four of whom preceded her in death. Mrs. Phelan
was the last of a family of six children. She was a member
of the Catholic church all her life and a member of the
Immaculate Conception. She is survived by two sons Leonard
and Robert Phelan and one daughter Miss Florence Phelan, all
at home. Funeral services will be conducted at 9 o'clock
Thursday morning in the church of the Immaculate Conception
by the pastor Rev Father Cusack. Burial will be in Calvary
cemetery.

MICHAEL HEDIGAN DIES HERE AT 69 Funeral Services Will Be
Held Tomorrow in Church Michael Hedigan, 69, 1276 W. 72nd
st., for many years a resident of the South side, died
Friday morning at his home after a long illness. Funeral
services will be held tomorrow in the St. Brendan Catholic
church, Marquette rd. and Racine ave. Born in County Clare,
Ireland, Mr. Hedigan was brought to this country by his
parents when he was a baby. For the past 14 years he
operated a grocery and delicatessen store at the 72nd st.
address. Before that he had operated a store for many years
at 57th st. and Ashland ave. Surviving are the widow, Mrs.
Nellie Hadigan; a son, Arthur, of the 72nd st. address, and
a daughter, Mrs. Mabelle Parkman, 7822 Laflin st.
