Cork - Field, Jeremiah December 12, 1888 *********************************************** Ireland Genealogy Projects Archives Cork Index Copyright ************************************************ File contributed by: Rosemary Nunnally rosemarykn@comcast.net May 28, 2011, 6:44 pm FIELD, JEREMIAH DECEMBER 12, 1888 Boston Daily Globe, Boston, MA 31 Dec. 1888 The body of Watchman Jeremiah Field of the National Dock Company, who has been missing since the 12th inst., was found floating in Lombard's Dock at East Boston yesterday afternoon by Watchman Quigley. The body when found was in an excellent state of preservation, and bore no signs of violence. It was Field's duty to ring several boxes every hour, and on the night of his disappearance he rang in the last box almost immediately over where his body was found at 7:20 o'clock. Deceased came to this country 40 years ago from County Cork, Ire., making his home in East Boston. For the past 25 years he has worked for the National Dock Company. He was a man of exemplary habits. and had accumulated considerable property. The family have not decided when the funeral will take place.
