Photo No.28 Sacred to the Memory of | Lieutenant General Sir THOMAS REYNELL Baronet | Knight Commander of The Most Honourable Order of the Bath | Knight of the Austrian order of Maria Theresa | and of the Russian Order of St George, Col of the 71st Highland Light Infantry | who departed this life at Avisford near Arundel, Sussex, the 10th day of Feb 1848 | after a Military Service of 54 years. | This distinguished office entered the Army Sept 1793 and during his military career| was actively employed in Holland and the West Indies | the landing and subsequent actions in Egypt and the Peninsula | at Waterloo, where he was wounded, he commanded the 21st Regt | and entered Paris at the head of the Light Brigade. | As a General Officer, Sir THOMAS commanded a division of the army in the East Indies| and having organised the force which besieged Bhurtpore, he was second in command | of the army which reduced that place and led the principal column of assault | 18th Jan 1826.
