Cork - Grady, Darby June 22, 1740 *********************************************** Ireland Genealogy Projects Archives Cork Index Copyright ************************************************ File contributed by: Rosalind Dunning ros.dunning@outlook.com March 12, 2018, 7:44 am GRADY, DARBY JUNE 22, 1740 Source: National Archives Kew England Written: June 22, 1740 Recorded: March 12, 2018 In the Name of God Amen I Darby Grady Ropemaker formerly an Inhabitant in the City of Cork in the Kingdom of Ireland but now Seaman belonging to His Majesty's Ship Hector Sir Yelverton Peyton Bart. being weak in Body but of a sound mind memory and understanding duly considering the certainty of Death and the uncertainty of the time Do make this my last Will and Testament first and Principally I commend my Soul to God that Gave it trusting in the Meritts of my Blessed Saviour and Redeemer for Pardon of all my Sins and my Body I commit to the care of those amongst whom I shall happen to Dye to be decently buried Imprimis I Give devise and bequeath unto Patrick Grady Ropemaker of the City of Cork and Kingdom aforesaid the one moyety or half part of my Wages which is or shall be due to me from his Majesty's Ship Hector at the time of my decease or discharge from the said Ship to him his Heirs or Assigns Item I Give Devise and bequeath the other Moyety or half part of my Wages which is or shall be due to me from his Majesties Ship Hector at the time of my decease or discharge from the said Ship with everything else that may belong to me at the time of my decease after all my just Debts are fully paid and discharged unto my lawful son John Grady now living in or about Cork in the Kingdom aforesaid who was left by me under the care of Elizabeth Sullyvan in Cork aforesaid And in case either of the abovementioned Patrick Grady or John Grady should happen to dye before this my Will can take then *tis my will that the Survivor do receive and enjoy the whole and every Part of the before mentioned Wages but if both be living at the time of my Decease and the Execution of this my Will Then my Will further is that Patrick Grady Shall and is impowered to receive the whole either by himself or his Assigns and further my Will is that the said Patrick Grady shall lay out the one moyety or half part of what is hereby given to my Son John Grady in the best manner for the use of the said John Grady till he shall be fit and of a proper Age to go to some Trade or calling and then *tis my Will that the Said Patrick Grady do Apply the whole Legacy herebefore bequeath to my Son John with all interest Ariseing due to him on the same to the proper use and benefit of my said Son John Grady And lastly I do hereby Appoint the said Patrick Grady my Brother of the City of Cork and Kingdom aforesaid to be my sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Will at any time heretofore by me made In Witness hereof I have Sett my hand and affixed my Seal on board his Majesties Ship Hector off the Bar of Saint Augustine this 22nd day of June 1740 Darby Grady Signed Sealed Published and declared in the presence of us Michael Osborn Alexander Boneh Heph Bound N Scotcher 8 September 1740 Administration with Will annexed of Goods of Darby Grady late of the City of Cork Widower to Elizabeth Grady Widow lawful Attorney for Patrick Grady PCC Prob11/720
