Cork - Lemasney, Michael Fitzgerald October 9, 1848 *********************************************** Ireland Genealogy Projects Archives Cork Index Copyright ************************************************ File contributed by: Rosalind Dunning ros.dunning@outlook.com May 26, 2019, 8:41 am LEMASNEY, MICHAEL FITZGERALD OCTOBER 9, 1848 Source: National Archives Kew England Written: October 9, 1848 Recorded: May 26, 2019 In the Name of God Amen I Michael Fitzgerald Lemasney late of Jamaica now of Banffe and Co of Cork Ireland being of sound mind and memory do make and publish this my last Will and Testament I leave and bequeath to my beloved Sister Albina McDermott otherwise Lemasney the sum of fifteen hundred pounds sterling vested by me in the three per cent annuities I leave and bequeath to my Son James Joseph Lemasney now in Jamaica my Property in the Spring Estate in the said Island and should said James Joseph Lemasney die without legitimate Issue I bequeath my right and title to said Spring Estate in equal shares to my Nephews James Patrick McDermott and William C L McDermott And whereas my Son James J Lemasney by reason of his inexperience and Youth is unequal to the Administration of the Spring Estate I will and bequeath its administration be conducted by William McDermott Esq M D my Brother in Law untill the year 1853 when he is to deliver it up to James J Lemasney after having paid out of its fruits give hundred pounds sterling to the said James J Lemasney to enable him to carry on the cultivation of the said Spring Estate I leave and bequeath unto Margaret Gibson of Jamaica during her natural life my property in the Pen called Mount Vernon in Jamaica I direct that she expend 50 sterling in repairing the Mansion thereon after her death I bequeath Mount Vernon Pen to Hugh Whitelock Lemansey my reputed Son and direct and order that the said Hugh Whitelock Lemansey be educated for the legal profession by my Son James Joseph Lemasney I leave and bequeath to my Sister Margaret Sheridan otherwise Lemasney for her own exclusive use and benefit the Sum of £20 Pr Annum during her natural life but if her husband James Sheridan should claim any title or right to this bequest I hereby declare it null and void and in that case bequeath said £20 Pr Annum to my Sister Albina McDermott otherwise Lemasney I leave and bequeath unto William Lemasney of Jamaica the Sum of £30 Pr Annum Provided he do reside permanently as Bookkeeper on the Spring Estate The Residue of my Estate of whatever kind together with all the monies fruits and benefits arising therefrom I leave to my beloved Sister Albina McDermott otherwise Lemasney I appoint William McDermott Esqr M D and the Revd Cornelius Cockran P P of Tracton to be Executors to this my Will and Testament whereunto I affix my hand and Seal this 9th day of October 1848 in presence of the following Witnesses M F G Lemasney (Attestation Clause) Patrick Riordan _ John Shea _ James Breadwood (Personal Appearance by John Shea of Ballyvolane Land Steward in respect of Michael Fitzgerald Lemasney formerly of Jamaica but late of Ballyfeard of Cork Gentleman deceased as to due execution of Will in presence of himself and Patrick Riordan Constable of Police and James Breadwood of Ballyfeard Servant 16 December 1848) Proved at London 11 January 1849 by the Oath of William McDermott Doctor of Medicine power reserved to other Executor PCC Prob11/2068
