MORROGH, HENRY APRIL 2, 1749

In the Name of God Amen I Henry Morrogh of the City of Corke 
Merchant being of sound and disposing Mind Memory and 
Understanding Do make publish and declare this my last Will 
and Testament first I order and direct that all my just 
Debts be paid with all convenient speed I give and bequeath 
unto my loving Wife Frances Morrogh the Sum of One hundred 
and fifty Pounds and also all the plate called the Equipage 
of her Tea Table and her Wearing Apparel Jewells and Rings 
together with the furniture of such One of the Rooms of my 
House as the said Frances shall chuse the same with the 
Provision herein after further Provided for to be in lieu 
barr and satisfaction of Dower and Thirds I give and 
bequeath to my Son James Morrogh the Sum of One hundred 
Pounds Sterling Unto my Son Henry Morrogh the Sum of fifty 
Pounds Sterling Unto my Son Andrew Morrogh the Sum of forty 
Pounds Ster And unto my Daughter Mary Morrogh the Sum of One 
hundred Pounds Sterling I give and bequeath unto Jane the 
Wife of my Brother in Law James Galwey One Guinea to buy her 
a Mourning Ring And unto my Executors herein after named One 
Guinea a piece to buy them Rings And as for and concerning 
all the residue and remainder of my Worldly Substance of 
what nature or kind soever I give and bequeath the same unto 
and amongst my said Wife and my Children that is to say 
James Henry Mary Christian Joseph Andrew Edmond John Frances 
and Teresa Morrogh share and share alike And it is my Will 
that my said Sons fortunes shall be payable to them at their 
attaining the age of twenty four Years respectively or 
sooner at the discretion of my Executors herein after named 
or the Major part of them or the Survivors or Survivor of 
them And that my said Daughters fortunes be payable to them 
at the like Age or upon their Days of Marriage which shall 
first happen And in Case any of my said Children shall 
happen to die before his her or their fortunes shall become 
payable to them I do in such Case give and bequeath the 
fortune of the Child or Children so dying to the Survivors 
or Survivor of my said Children share and share alike And it 
is my Will that my said Daughters shall not Intermarry 
without the advice and consent of my Executors or the Major 
part of them or of the Survivors or Survivor of them And in 
Case any or either of my said Daughters shall Intermarry 
without such Consent before their respective Ages of twenty 
four Years then I leave and bequeath unto such Daughter or 
Daughters so Marrying without such Consent the Sum of ten 
Pounds Sterling instead of the respective fortunes herein 
before bequeathed her or them And in such Case I give and 
bequeath the fortune of the Daughters or Daughters so 
Marrying without such Consent unto the others of my said 
Daughters share and share alike And I hereby Impower and 
Authorize my said Executors or the Major part of them or of 
the Survivors or Survivor of them to demise sett or sell as 
they shall think proper all my Lands Houses Cellars and 
Tenements whatsoever Goods and Effects in Trade which I 
recommend to them to do with all convenient Speed in order 
to ascertain the amount of my Worldly Substance and the 
fortunes to which my Wife and Children will be Intited unto 
my virtue of this my Will And I do Impower and Authorize my 
said Executors or the Major part of them or of the Survivors 
or Survivor of them either to place the money arising by 
such the Sale of my said Estate and Effects out at Interest 
upon legal security or to apply part thereof in Trade under 
the Conduct of my said Wife and such of my said Children as 
shall be capable of Assisting her therein at the discretion 
of my said Executors or the Major part of them or of the 
Survivors or Survivor of them and as to them shall seem most 
for the benefit and advantage of my family Provided always 
and it is my Will that my Executors shall not be accountable 
for any Loss in Trade or Insolvent Security which may happen 
in the Execution of the aforesaid Trust I further leave and 
bequeath unto my Brothers in Law Richd Slack Mathias 
Dunworth and Daniel Leahy two Guineas a piece to buy 
Mourning Rings for them and their respective Wives and I 
leave for the like purpose a Guinea to my Sister in Law 
Catherine Morrogh And I constitute nominate and appoint my 
Brother in Law James Galwey of the City of Cork Merchant my 
Brother Andrew Morrogh of Rathcormick in the Couny of Cork 
Gentleman my Nephew Michael Dunworth of the City of Cork 
Merchant and my said Wife during her Widowhood and no longer 
Executors of this my last Will and Testament and it is my 
Will that my said Executors or the Major part of them or of 
the Survivors or Survivor of them do apply so much and such 
part as they shall think proper of the profits arising from 
such Trade or of the said Interest money towards the 
Maintenance and Education of my said Children I desire I may 
be buried in a decent private manner at the discretion of my 
Executors at St Mary Shandon Corke In Witness whereof I have 
hereunto put my hand and seal this Second Day of April in 
the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and forty 
nine I give my Clerk John Denahy five Pounds to buy Mourning 
Henry Morrogh
