PETER'S PARISH - MEMORIALS [By the late Rev. Beaver H. Blacker.] From a MS, kindly lent us by Arthur Vicar, Esq., F.S.A. (Ulster). 'On a tablet':-- "This church built An. Dom. 1685, and repaired 1751, was enlarged 1773 at the sole expense of the Parish. EDWARD BAYLEY, D.D., Dean of Ardfert, and Arch-Deacon of Dublin, Minister; JOS. WALKER, Esqre., Mr. SAML. COLLINS, Churchwardens." _____ "Here lieth the body of the Rev. EDWARD BAYLEY, D.D., late Dean of Ardfert, and Arch-Deacon of Dublin, who departed this life the 11th June, 1785, in the 75th year of his age." _____ "The remains of BENJAMIN DISRAELI, Esqr., are deposited here. He departed this life on the 9th day of August, in the year 1814, aged 48." [See vol. I., p. 168.] _____ "1878. VALLANCEY--Dec. 16, at Guernsey, Lieut-Colonel VALLANCEY of H.M.'s Indian Army (Madras), eldest grandson of the late Lieut.-General VALLANCEY, Chief Engineer of Ireland, aged 72, deeply mourned." _____ "Here lieth the body of GENERAL CHAS. VALLENCY, who died on the 8th day of August, 1812, in the 88th year of his age." _____ "Here are buried the Revd. JOHN STUDDRT, Ex-S.T.C.D., Precentor of Killaloe, and Incumbent of St. Doulongh's, who died the 29th of August, 1849. Also his mother, ELIZABETH STUDDERT, formerly DOWDALL, widow of WILLIAM STUDDERT, of Clonlohan House, Clonghjordan, Esqre., she died 25th May, 1845." _____ "In memory of the Revd. WILLIAM MEADE OGLE, who died in this Parish on the 27th March, 1812, aged forty-two." _____ "WILSON GREENE, eldest son of RICHARD WILSON GREENE and ELIZABETH GREENE, Died 20th May, 1829, aged 7 years. CHARLES GEORGE GREENE, sixth son of RICHARD WILSON GREENE and ELIZABETH GREENE, died 14th March, 1836, aged one year and nine months. The Rt. Hon. RICHARD WILSON GREENE, Second Baron of the Court of Exchequer, died 23rd March, 1861, aged 69 years. ELIZABETH GREENE, widow of the above, Died 21st January, 1863, aged 70 years." _____ "Here lies the body of the Honble, HARRIETT SEWELL, wife of Lt.-Col. T.B.D. SEWELL, daughter of the late Arch-bishop of Tuam, BARON DECIES. She died June 11th, 1834." _____ "To the memory of the Hon. GEORGE JOCELYN, 2nd son of ROBERT, 1ST EARL OF RODEN, by ANNE, only surviving child and heiress of JAMES, 1ST EARL OF CLANBRASSILL. He died March 15th, 1796, aged 32 years. Also to the memory of the HON. THOMASINA COLE JOCELYN, otherwise BOWEN, his wife, who died Oct., 15th, 1818, aged 56 years. Dauter of HENRY COLE BOWEN, Esq., of Bowens Court, Co. Cork." _____ "Underneath are interred the remains of ELLEN LADY DUNBOYNE, wife of the Right Hon. LORD DUNBOYNE, who departed this life on the 15th March, 1817, aged 36 years. She lived an ornament to her rank, and a pattern of every virtue that distinguishes the affectionate wife, the fond mother, and the steady and warm friend. Dauter of DAVID O'CONNELL, Esq., of Cork, and 1st wife of JAMES BUTLER, 13TH LORD DUNBOYNE." _____ "PETER ROE, Esq., late of Fitzwilliam Square, City of Dublin, Died 4th June, 1826, aged 80 years." DUBLIN. 70 "Mr. JOHN MARSH, forty-four years organist of this Parish, Died 6th Feb. 1831, aged 68 years." _____ "Sacred to the memory of JOHN WHITLEY STOKES, Esqr., who departed this life Janry. 26th, 1838, aged 79 years; and of MARY JANE, his wife, who departed this life Decr. 20th, 1829, aged 79 years." _____ "ROBERT DOWNES, D.D., successively Bishop of Leighlin And Ferns, Down and Connor, and Raphoe, Died 30 June, 1763, aged 59 years. Here also lieth his daughter, JANE CARY HAMILTON, wife of the Revd. GEORGE CARY HAMILTON, Died 2nd April, 1765, aged 28 years." _____ "Miss ISABELLA FITZGIBBON, died July the 18th, 1790, aged three years and three months. Here also lieth the body of the Right Hon. JOHN FITZGIBBON, Lord High Chancellor of Ireland, who departed this life the 28th day of January, 1802, aged 54 years." _____ "Sacred to the memory of FRANCIS DWYER, Esq., late one of the six clerks of the High Court of Chancery in Ireland, who died 1st October, 1849, in the 71st year of his age. This humble tablet is erected by his bereaved widow." _____ "WILLIAM STACK, Esq., M.D., died 7th May, 1827, aged 33 years." _____ "Here lieth the body of WILLIAM POWER, of Ennis in the Co. of Clare, Esq., who departed this life on the 30th day of May, 1820, aged 68 years." _____ "Erected to the memory of CHRISTOPHER PATRICKSON, C.B., late Colonel of H.M. 43rd Regiment, Died 25th September, 1856, aged 78 years." _____ "To the memory of THOMAS WILLS, Esq., who departed this life the 8th of December, 1774, aged 65 years."
