Obit: Carr, Barbara June 29, 1950 *********************************************** Ireland Genealogy Projects Archives Dublin Index Copyright ************************************************ File contributed by: Michelle Ortz dwyerortz@yahoo.com September 7, 2013, 8:03 am CARR, BARBARA JUNE 29, 1950 The LEADER-Vindicator Newspaper Mrs. Barbara Kathleen Carr, one of Rimersburg's oldest residents, died at her home on South Main street, Rimersburg, at 7 o'clock Thursday morning, June 29, 1950, after an illness of several months. Born in Dublin, Ireland, on December 23, 1859, a daughter of John and Bridget Bagley, she had attained the age of 90 years, 6 months and 6 days. She came with her family to this country at the age of seven, settling in Brady's Bend. In 1878, at the age of 19 she was married to John J. Carr, in the Catholic church of East Brady. To this union were born 15 children, eight of whom survive. Mr. Carr died in 1902. Mrs. Carr was a life-ling and devout member of the Catholic church, being affiliated at the time of her death with St. Richard's Church in Rimersburg. Before that during her forty years spent in New Bethlehem she was a member of St. Charles Catholic church,and during her thirty years residence in Rimersburg she was a member of St. Eusebius church at East Brady before the establishment of St. Richard's church. The body lay in state at her home from Friday until Monday morning when it was removed to St. Richard's church where services were held with her pastor, the Rev. Fr. Thomas Eustace conducting the obsequies. Interment was in St. Charles Catholic cemetery, New Bethlehem. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Wallace Van Schoick, Rimersburg; Mrs. Blair Ferguson, Butler; Miss Ruth Carr, Mrs. J. M. Pontzer and Mrs. Jack McKinley, Rimersburg; three sons, James E., of Fredonia, Kansas; John J. and M. T. Carr of Redonda Beach, California; twelve grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Johannah McGee, of Pittsburgh.
