No.4 Notice Board:- The LITERARY PARADE | One of Dublin's major contributions to European Culture has been in the area of | literature. | Many writers of world renown | were born here including three winners | of the Nobel Prize for Literature. GEORGE | BERNARD SHAW, WILLIAM BUTLER YEARS and SAMUEL BECKETT. JONATHAN SWIFT, Author | of Gulliver's Travels was Dean of Saint | Patrick's Cathedral for 32 years. The | Literary Parade was designed to provide, in chronological order, a bronze plaque | to commerate each writer. The sculptors LEO HIGGINS and COLM BRENNAN | were commissioned to carry out the work | and the plaques are mounted under the | original sandstone arches along the | boundary of the Park. No.5 Each plaque of the LITERARY PARADE can be found behind an enclosed area with the date 1988 inscribed on the front, the year they were Commissioned.
