In the Name of God Amen I James Hoey born in Black Rock in 
the County of Dublin and United Kingdom of Ireland (Seaman) 
belonging to his Majestys Ship Lancaster William Fothergill 
Esqr Commander now lying dangerously ill in the Navy 
Hospital Madrass but being of Sound and disposing Memory do 
for avoiding Controversies after my Decease make publish and 
declare this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and 
form following vizt. Principally and first of all I 
recommend my Soul to the Almighty God who gave it me And my 
Body I commit to the Earth or Water as the Lord shall so 
order it in hopes of a joyful Resurrection on the last Day 
and as for and concerning my Worldly Estates and Effects I 
give and bequeath unto my loving Mother Honnor Hoey residing 
at Port Maine in the County aforesaid All my Pay Wages Prize 
Money Smart and Short Allowance Money that is or may become 
due or owing to me from the said Ship and if the said Honnor 
Hoey is deceased I give and bequeath the aforesaid Pay Wages 
Prize Money Smart and Short Allowance Money that is due to 
me from the said Ship Lancaster unto my beloved Brother 
Patrick Hoey of Port Maine in the County aforesaid I also 
give and bequeath unto my friend and Shipmate John Connor 
All my Clothes Wearing Apparel Bed and Bedding with such 
other Property as may be found about me at the Time of my 
Decease the said John Connor being now a Patient in the Navy 
Hospital I do hereby nominate and appoint the said Honnor 
Hoey of Port Maine in the County aforesaid the sole 
Executrix of this to be my last Will and Testament if 
deceased I nominate and appoint the aforesaid Patrick Hoey 
of Port Maine the sole Executor of this to be my last Will 
and Testament revoking all former Wills by me heretofore 
made ratifying this and no other to be my last Will and 
Testament In Testimony of which I have hereunto set my hand 
and Seal in the Navy Hospital Madrass this fourth day of 
August one thousand Eight hundred and five The X mark of 
James Hoey Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of us 
Charles Hawlayne Governor _ John Underwood Surgeon
Proved at London 10 December 1807 by the Oath of Honnor Hoey 
Widow the Mother
