In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Nowlan of Francis Street in 
the City of Dublin Merchant do make this my will I order and 
direct that all my just debts and funeral expences be paid 
by my executors hereinafter named as soon as conveniently 
may be after my decease I give and bequeath to my niece 
Margaret Nowlan the sum of two thousand pounds in 
consideration of her care and attentions to me for many 
years past I order and direct I order and direct that a sum 
of two thousand pounds be placed out at interest by my 
executors as soon as convenient after my decease on some 
good and sufficient security but without risk to them and I 
give and bequeath the interest or produce thereof to my 
daughter Catherine Netterville for and during her natural 
life to and for her own sole use and benefit without the 
control of her present or any future husband and her receipt 
only to be sufficient for the same and upon or immediately 
after her death I order and direct that the said principal 
sum of two thousand pounds shall go to and be equally 
divided amongst my Grandchildren the children of my said 
daughter (now nine in number) share and share alike and in 
Case and in case of the death of either or any of my said 
Grandchildren under the age of twenty one years unmarried 
and without lawful issue then and in such Case I give & 
bequeath the share or proportion of such person or persons 
so dying to the survivors of my said Grandchildren share and 
share alike I give and bequeath to my Grandson Thomas 
Netterville one thousand pounds to be paid to him as soon as 
convenient after my decease I give and bequeath to my 
Grandsons John Richard Patrick and William Netterville eight 
hundred pounds sterling each and to my Granddaughters Mary 
Catherine Ann and Elizabeth the sum of five hundred pounds 
sterling each to be paid to each of them respectively on 
their attaining their respective age or ages of twenty one 
years or day or days of marriage with the consent of their 
mother and of my executrix my sister in law Margaret Nowlan 
Widow herein after named and in case of the death of either 
or any of my said eight last mentioned Grandchildren under 
age unmarried and without lawful issue then I order and 
direct that the said legacy and legacys so bequeathed to 
such of them so dying as aforesaid shall go to and be 
divided amongst the survivors of my said nine Grandchildren 
share and share alike I order and direct that the said sums 
or legacys so bequeathed to my eight last mentioned 
Grandchildren be paid out at interest either together or in 
separate sums by my executors without risk to them as soon 
as convenient after my decease the interest of each sum or 
legacy or so much thereof as shall or may be necessary for 
the maintenance education or Cloathing of each of my said 
Grandchildren be paid to their said mother for that purpose 
and when of sufficient age to bind them or any or either of 
them apprentice or otherwise to provide for them according 
to the discretion of their mother and my executrix and in 
case my executor or executrix shall have reason to apprehend 
or believe that due and proper attention is not paid by my 
said daughter to the maintenance education and cloathing of 
the said children then my will is & I desire that my 
executor or executrix shall direct the application of the 
said interest money or apply the same in such manner as they 
shall think fit for the benefit or advantage of my said 
Grandchildren I give and bequeath to my sister Margaret 
Johnson fifty pounds and to Lucretia Nowlan daughter of 
Lawrence Nowlan deced twenty five pounds the Revd Mr Byrne 
of Francis Street Chapel for the use of the poor children 
who are educated and Clothed in the School of said Parish 
the sum of ten pounds Whereas I am possessed of several 
profit rents arising out of houses and premises in the city 
and county of Dublin which rent I order and direct shall and 
may be received and Collected by my executrix Mary Nowlan 
and when received and collected I give and bequeath the same 
my said nine Grandchildren share and share alike and my will 
is that if my said executrix shall think it for the benefit 
& advantage of my said Grandchildren to dispose of the said 
profit rents and ... interest in the premises or any of them 
then it is my will and I hereby impower my Extrix Mary 
Nowlan to let sell or otherwise dispose thereof as she may 
think proper and to pay or apply the purchase money rents 
issues or profits thereof to or for the use of my said 
Grandchildren share and share alike and as to all the rest 
residue and remainder of all my Worldly substance of what 
nature or kind soever whereof I shall die seized possessed 
or entitled unto not herein or herein otherwise disposed of 
I give & bequeath the same to my said nine Grandchildren 
share and share alike I hereby nominate and appoint my said 
sister in law Mary Nowlan executrix and my friend Patrick 
Dempsey of Townsend Street Merchant executor of this my will 
and do request him to assist my said executrix in the 
management of my affairs I hereby revoke annul and make void 
all former will or wills by me heretofore made or spoken & 
declare this to be my last will In witness whereof I have 
hereunto put my hand and seal this thirteenth day of April
