Burns of 17 Harrison St., and mother of a well known local family, died early yesterday at St. John's Hospital after a brief illness. Mrs. Burns was born in County Galway, Ireland, the daughter of John and Mary (Connelly) Delaney. On June 22 of this year, Mr. and Mrs. Burns would have observed the golden jubilee of their wedding. Besides her husband, she is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Joseph D. Meehan, Mrs. Paul E. Gallagher, Mrs. Joseph P. Hayes and Mrs. Martin J. Hoar; two sons, James D. Burns Jr. of the American Hide and Leather Co., and John B. Burns of the Quartermaster Corps. at Fort Devens; nine grandchildren; a sister Miss Katie Delaney, Ballinasloe, County Galway, Ireland; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Burns was a first cousin of the late Bishop Delaney of Manchester, NH.
