Wills: Murphy, Daniel November 22, 1783 *********************************************** Ireland Genealogy Projects Archives Kerry Index Copyright ************************************************ File contributed by: Rosalind Dunning ros.dunning@outlook.com March 7, 2018, 5:25 pm WILLS: MURPHY, DANIEL NOVEMBER 22, 1783 Source: National Archives Kew England Written: November 22, 1783 Recorded: March 7, 2018 In the Name of God Amen I Daniel Murphy of Belview in the County of Kerry Esqr considering the uncertainties of this Life and being sound both in mind and memory Do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner following first I commend my Soul to the hands of the Great God my Creator and my Body to the Earth to be plainly and decently Buried without Shew or Pomp 2nd I desire that all my lawful Debts may be Paid by my Executors as soon as may be after my decease and that they sell all my Stock that is to say all my Cows Horses Sheep as all my Household furniture Carriage and farming Utensils if any there be and place the Money got for them at Interest for the following uses and Purposes 3rdly I leave and bequeath unto my beloved Wife Rebecca Murphy formerly Cantillon Eighty Pounds Ster during her natural Life and no longer to be paid her half yearly out of my substance Real and Personal I further leave and bequeath her Thirty Guineas to dispose of as she thinks Proper at the hour of her Death 4thly I leave and bequeath to the best of Women Mary Ann Dias fifty Pounds to buy a Mourning Ring with it to wear for my Sake on account of the very great friendship that subsisted between us for many years which I think more of than any tie of Blood but if she should not think fit to buy a Ring for the whole or any Part of it she is to receive the fifty Pounds to do as she thinks Proper with it 5thly I leave and bequeath to my Cousin German Margrett Casey now of Cork ten Pounds a year during her natural Life for the great Care and Attention she Paid me during my many heavy fits of Sickness 6thly I leave and bequeath to each and every one of the following Persons five Pounds each to buy Mourning or to do whatever else they think Proper with it to my only Brother Walter Murphy of Killarney and his Wife 6th to the Sister Mary Connell of Iveragh 7thly to my Niece Elizabeth Connell of Tralee 8thly to my Niece Catherine Tuxhill of Killarney 7thly I leave and bequeath to every of my Servants which lived with me above a Year in the House and shall live with me at the time of my Death one half years' Wages over and above any that might be then due to them of me 8thly I leave and bequeath to the Poor of the Parish of Killarney Ten Pounds Ster and also to the Parish at ...... Pounds Ster to be distributed by Mr Morgan Connell or whatever other Parish Priest may be in his Place 9thly I leave and bequeath to my dearest best beloved and only Daughter Elenore Murphy all that and these the Rest Residue and Remainder of my fortune Real and Personal Provided always that she shall not marry under the age of fifty and four years without the Consent and Approbation under hand and seal of my Executors which shall be by me appointed in this Will but in case she should die unmarried under the age of twenty and one I leave and bequeath the Houses that William Looby and James Twohill with their several appurtenances the New Garden and the farm of Knockrear and Belview to my Nephew Richd Murphy youngest Son of my Brother Walter Murphy the rest and remainder of my fortune in case of my said Daughters dying unmarried I leave and bequeath share and share alike unto William Murphy Thader Murphy Richard Murphy and Catherine Twohill Children of my said Brother Walter and in case my said Daughter Ellenora should marry and have no Issue at her Death then I leave the said Houses in Killarney and the said farms of Knockrear and Belview to my said Nephew Richard Murphy and his Heirs for ever but in case he should die without Issue then I leave it to my Nephew Wm Murphy Eldest Son of my Brother Walter but in case he should die without Issue then I bequeath it to the said Walter's second eldest Son Thadee Murphy and his Heirs Executors and Administrators for ever or during their several tenures I have of them 10thly In case that my Daughter Ellenora Murphy should be so unfortunate as to marry without the Consent of my Executors as before mentioned then and in that Case I leave and bequeath to her only twelve pounds a Year during her Life to Prevent her from Starving And in that case I bequeath the remainder of my fortune as before in the 9th Article of this my Will in case of her the said Ellenora Murphy dying unmarried before the Age of twenty and one and it is my desire that the said twelve Pounds a year shall be paid out of my Houses in Killarney 11thly I do constitute and appoint Thomas Brown Lord Viscount Kenmore George Goold of Cork Esqr Thos Gallway Esqr of Killarney and Sir Boyle Roach of Dublin my sole Executors of this my last Will and Testament And lastly I do hereby revoke annull and make void all former Will or Wills by me at any time heretofore made In Witness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and Seal this twenty second Day on November one thousand seven hundred and eighty three Danl Murphy (Attestation Clause) Corns O'Connell M.D._ Alexr Minarty M.D. _ Mary Maynahan Proved at London 20 April 1790 PCC Prob11/1191
