Mariner on board the Jane of Glasgow Merchantman (Master Alexander Keltner) being now in Arras Hospital very weak in health but of perfect reason thanks be to God calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all Men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the hand of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in christian burial at the discretion of my Executor nothing doubting but at the general Day of judgement I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner In the first place I do appoint William Flynn now a Prisoner of War in Arras formerly my Shipmate on board the Jane of Glasgow (Master Alexander Keltner) to my Executor of this my last Will and Testament and to dispose of my Property in the following manner to receive all sum or sums of money whatsoever with full interest thereon which is now in the hands of John Sparrier belonging to Pool in the County of Dorsetshire & do bequeath as follows to my three Brothers and one Sister Lawrence Edmund Kyran and Catherine Niel all of Arlingford in the County of Kilkenny Ireland to receive equally and legally the sole of whatever sum or Sums of money that may come into the hands of my Executor to be proportionably shared amongst them I do utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former Testament Will Legacy Bequest or powers by me in any ways before named willed and bequeathed ratifying & confirming this and no other to be my last Will & Testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & Seal this nineteenth Day of May one thousand eight hundred and nine in Arras Hospital in the presence of the undermentioned witnesses John Neail _ Richd Butler _ Martin Bergin _William Flinn Proved at London 14 June 1814 PCC Prpb11/1557
