News: McGlynn, Sr, Thomas - Exile's death *********************************************** Ireland Genealogy Projects Archives Longford Index Copyright ************************************************ File contributed by: Brian Wray bjwray@eircom.net February 16, 2012, 2:48 pm MCGLYNN, SR, THOMAS - EXILE'S DEATH Irish Press September 25, 1936 Mr. Thomas McGlynn (senior) who's death has occurred at Hamden Road, Prestwich, Manchester, was a native of Cloonart, Co Longford, and was prominently identified with the national and Irish-Ireland movements in Britain. He wrote poems in Irish and also taught Irish for many years. Previous to the Anglo-Irish Treaty his house in Manchester was the centre of activity on behalf of his native land. The internment took place at Moston Cemetery, Manchester, after solemn requiem mass at our Lady of Grace Church, prestwich.
