Copy of the last Will and Testament of William Cochran late of Longford Extracted from the Registry of Ardagh this tenth day of November 1837 In the Name of god Amen I William Cochrane of the Town and county of Longford Gentleman being of sound mind memory and understanding do make and publish this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former and other wills whatsoever made by me whereas by the will of my late brother John Cochran of Vansittart Terrace in the County of Kent in that part of the United Kingdom called Great Britain and Ireland called England I and my two sisters Jane McMurray And Anne Cochrane became severally and separately entitled during our joint lives to the interest dividends rents issues and profits of the real and personal estate and effects of the said testator not by him otherwise disposed of to be paid to us and each of us separately in equal shares and proportions during our natural lives with separate and distinct power and authority to each of us respectively by our last Will to be executed in presence of two or more credible witnesses to give and bequeath the sum of one thousand pounds each bank per centum consolidated annuities to such person or persons and in such shares and proportions as we and each of us respectively should think proper to direct and appoint and that after our decease said three sums of one thousand pounds each should be paid and transferred to the person or persons by our or any or either of last wills entitled thereto and that in default of such appointment after our decease said three sums of one thousand pounds each or so much thereof as should remain undisposed of conformable to the terms and conditions of said will should merge in and become part of said testator's residuary estate now in pursuance of the power so vested in me by the said brother's will I devise and bequeath unto my dear Wife Alicia Cochrane the interest on said sum of one thousand pounds bank three per centum consolidated annuities for her own sole use and benefit with full and free power and authority to her to dispose of five hundred pounds of same after her death in such manner as she may think fit by her last Will or other instrument to appoint I give and bequeath to my reputed daughter Mary Swift Wife of Edward Swift of Clones in the County of Monahon Bootmaker the interest on the remaining four hundred pounds part of said sum of one thousand pounds after decease of my said Wife same to be paid and payable to her for her own use and benefit and on her own separate notwithstanding her coverture And my will and desire is that the said Mary Swift shall have power to and shall divide said sum of four hundred pounds in equal shares and proportions amongst her children at the time of her death recollecting however that she or they are not to become entitled thereto until after the death of my said Wife and whereas my said two sisters and I have mutually agreed that in case they or either of them shall happen to survive me they or either of them so surviving shall and will pay to the person entitled under this my will the interest on my said sum of one thousand pounds and that in like manner if I should survive them I shall pay the person or persons entitled respectively under the wills the interest on their separate sums of one thousand pounds each and upon the faith of their said promises and agreement so to do I call upon and require them after my death to pay the same to my said wife Alicia Cochran hereby ratifying and confirming my intention to fulfil said agreement on my part should happen to survive them and in case my said wife shall die before my said sisters I rely on them or the survivor of them further to fulfil the said agreement by paying to the said Mary Swift interest on said four hundred pounds during their or either of their natural lives in as much as the said principal sum shall not be available until after their death I leave and bequeath to George Hyde of Longford commonly called Doctor Hyde the sum of fifty pounds sterling as a small token of my esteem and regard to be paid to him out of said one thousand pounds after the death of my said wife and sisters The Remainder of my property I leave and bequeath to my said wife Alicia Cochran whom I also appoint residuary Legatee of this my Will and lastly I nominate constitute and appoint George Hyde of Longford Surgeon and Apothecary Executor and my said wife Alicia Cochran Executrix of this my will In Witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my hand and affixed my seal this twenty ninth
