BARNA CARROLL CEMETERY

The locality is known as South Murneen. My people, from
Ballynastangford, are buried there in the Barna Carroll
Cemetery in South Murneen.  Ballynastangford is about 4
miles from Claremorris

was born in 1863, son of Pat Casserly and Elenor Boyle of
Ballynastangford - near Claremorris.  (church records,
County Mayo, Claremorris church)

Picture of the Barna Carroll cemetery including the "old
section" where there are many unmarked graves....because the
families could not afford gravestones, they used wooden
crosses and sometimes iron crosses....home-made.
